About Tiger
Tiger Brown is a director, choreographer, and educator based in New York City whose work is rooted in a movement driven approach to storytelling, using the body as a foundational language for character and transformation. She focuses mainly on musicals, but often expands toward plays, and is increasingly interested in developing new work, revitalizing classic musical theater pieces, integrating cinematography into live works, as well as site specific theatrical experiences.
She has worked as both a lead creative and associate in prestigious theaters such as Arena Stage, McCarter Theatre, Olney Theater Center, Tuacahn Center for the Arts, and at New York venues such as the Lucille Lortel, Alvin Ailey, and 54 Below. Most recently, she had the privilege of choreographing a one-woman show (Sasha Graham’s Ghost Stories + Tarot) taking her work across the pond to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this past August, and coming up, she will be choreographing Lauren Gunderson’s adaptation of Little Women at People’s Light Theater in the new year alongside director Donya Washington.
Tiger is passionate about accessible and expansive dance and theatrical education, and often teaches master classes and at national dance conventions around the country. She has developed multiple curriculum formats that have been taught around the US at regional theaters, collegiate institutions, and private studios. Tiger has proudly directed and choreographed the Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards for the past seven years at the Des Moines Civic Center, and has helped develop the program to become the largest regional chapter of the Jimmy Awards in the country. She is currently on dance and musical theater faculty at AMDA New York and guest faculty at Broadway Dance Center.
Tiger holds a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and was recently named a BOLD Directing Fellow. She is a proud SDC Associate Member.
